Luddites be damned!!

Well, we are here in beautiful Alba, and the Castle is all we expected it ta be. I suppose it's cheeky to assume a 14th century building would be wired for 'net, but it only took 3 or four days for our new friend and host, Davy, to hook us up!

We arrived in West Kilbride after long travels and some waiting for our rental car. The directions here were sketchy, but how can you miss the huge, white Keep on top of the highest hill in town. Literally, we just saw it and drove around the 5 streets 'til we found Law Brae (Law Hill).

Davy was here to meet us and gave us a great overview and tour. Lots of great stuff right here, pieces of Admiral Lord Nelson's ship from the Battle of Trafalgar made into a chair; one of the flags from the QE2; an uncovered death hole in the dungeon; an authentic "Thomas Crapper" toilet; and the fact that he and the Castle were featured in a one-off show from "Trading Spaces" - for real. They came over and tried to do one of his rooms. His quote: "It's different, but I canna say better..."

Davy is my age, and he is a great guy, makes the whole experience much better.

We live by candlelight, but not a problem when the sun doesn't go down until 11:30pm and is up by 5am... It's a real Castle, no kidding; any inconveniences are greatly outwieghed by the charm.

A couple of great road trips already and lots of great photos... I'll try to catch up tomorrow. For those reading, thanks for your patience, we will be able to share now.

More later, enjoy some photos on the sidebar!! Tomorrow I'll load broadband and try to post more...
